Originally thought to come from the Hungarian Tokai variety, it is now accepted that these wines are made from the Muscadelle grape, a white variety. The long, warm Autumn days in Rutherglen allow the fruit to ripen to the high Baume levels and the raisin flavours, so essential for the style.
